Job description

Our Customer is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity. Founded in 1900, they were created to expand access to higher education. Today, the membership association is made up of over 6,000 of the world’s leading educational institutions and is dedicated to promoting excellence and equity in education. Each year, our Customer helps more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success—including the SAT, the Advanced Placement Program, and BigFuture. The organization also serves the education community through research and advocacy on behalf of students, educators, and schools.

We are seeking a Data Visualization Designer on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.

This role will sit within the Engagement Analytics group within Engagement and Reach Operations. Responsible for turning The College Board’s vast data repository into actionable insight, the Engagement Analytics group works with teams across the organization to deliver segment analysis, analytics strategy, and engaging dashboards to the organization.

As the Data Visualization Designer, you are a master of making complex data simple through elegant design solutions. You translate rows of data into actionable insights through contextual narratives. You’re a service-minded leader who identifies the best means of serving the internal stakeholders and mission. When the efforts succeed it is you who had identified the opportunity and tells the story behind the success.

What You’ll Do:
  • Data Preparation & Integration (40%)
    • Coordinate with the College Board’s various database owners to access and understand the vast data landscape
    • Source, manipulate, and validate data elements needed to meet analysis requirements, automating these processes where possible
    • Develop integrations with both new and existing platforms with a particular focus on MarTech tools
  • Reporting Design & Analysis (40%)
    • Develop highly engaging reporting dashboards to support the needs of the Engagement and Reach division leveraging brand and design standards, and robust data visualization techniques
    • Ensure reporting meets user needs through intuitive reporting UIs
    • Leverage advanced features of the College Board’s data visualization software through both its desktop and server interfaces
    • Manage, in partnership with the Internal BI team, Engagement and Reach’s reporting portal
  • Analysis Delivery (20%)
    • Effectively coordinate the gathering and documentation of dashboard or reporting requirements
    • Deliver compelling and insightful readouts of tools that have been created and their usage

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Expertise in Tableau with 3-5 years developing user facing dashboards
  • A portfolio of your work included in your application.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills and the proven ability to move forward multiple projects in concert, both independently and as a member of the team
  • Adept analysis skills, using data to identify trends, inform decisions, and recommend actions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitating meetings and presenting remotely and in-person with particular attention to contextualizing data and insights
  • Tableau Desktop Certified Analyst or Tableau Analyst Badge preferred
  • A passion for supporting educational and career opportunities for millions of students
  • Outstanding knowledge of emerging trends and best practice in data visualization
  • Experience with AWS cloud computing services preferred
  • Excellent PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and MS Project skills
