Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.


We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer (PostgreSQL & MongoDB) on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.



Responsibilities:

  • Architect and manage large-scale PostgreSQL database environments in a multi-cloud infrastructure
  • Administer and support complex PostgreSQL and MongoDB database systems
  • Lead major database migration and upgrade initiatives
  • Drive database technology strategy and long-term architecture planning
  • Ensure operational excellence, high availability, resilience, and performance of multi-terabyte database environments
  • Maintain database security, compliance controls, and governance standards
  • Optimize database performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across AWS and GCP
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code using Terraform
  • Manage and monitor highly available database systems in cloud environments
  • Evaluate and adopt new database technologies and cloud platforms as needed


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant database engineering experience
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration and architecture
  • Advanced experience with MongoDB administration
  • Proven experience managing multi-terabyte database environments
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and GCP cloud database services
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform
  • Deep knowledge of high availability, replication, backup, disaster recovery, and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of database security and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading large-scale database modernization initiatives
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise or multi-cloud database environments
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement new database technologies
