Job description

Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.


We are seeking a Men's Knits and Sweaters Designer on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in NYC.



Responsibilities:

  • Create original design concepts reflecting style, color, and fabric based on fashion trend analysis
  • Research and identify seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, and techniques
  • Produce sketches and develop seasonal design presentations
  • Execute black-and-white sketches and apply color to finalized designs
  • Manage seasonal fabric selections and orders down to the color level
  • Collaborate with sourcing and materials development teams
  • Partner with merchandising, production, and technical design teams in cross-functional meetings
  • Develop and maintain tech packs (Gap Paks) to communicate design intent, fit, and specifications
  • Support fit sessions and provide input on fit and body block standards
  • Ensure designs meet quality standards, execution requirements, and margin targets


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent experience
  • Experience in fashion or product design
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply fashion trends in product design
  • Proficiency in sketching, including black-and-white and color rendering
  • Understanding of fabric selection, materials, and garment construction
  • Experience creating tech packs and working with production teams
  • Strong collaboration skills across merchandising, production, and technical design teams
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality and execution
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
