Job description

Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.


We are seeking a DevOps Engineer - GCP (Google Cloud Platform) on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.



Responsibilities:

  • Focus on infrastructure automation, cloud integration, and execution of infrastructure as code methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, DBAs, QA, and project managers throughout the software lifecycle to deliver technical infrastructure that supports external product delivery.
  • Implement automation for infrastructure as code, patching, and release management.
  • Participate in the development, execution, and support of infrastructure release management and operations.
  • Establish monitoring and infrastructure health reporting to advance self-healing infrastructure principles.
  • Enhance and extend configuration, deployment, and monitoring frameworks in partnership with Site Reliability Engineers.
  • Support cloud environments on GCP.
  • Gather and define requirements from internal customers and development teams, documenting architecture.
  • Follow a formal design process using specifications, data flow diagrams, and established guidelines for regulated environments.
  • Deploy and manage DevOps pipelines using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, CircleCI, and Git.
  • Work with NoSQL datastores (e.g., MongoDB) and RDBMS (e.g., Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Provide off-hours support for critical applications as required.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; further education preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of GCP experience (required; alternative cloud experience will not transfer).
  • Minimum of 2 years of Kubernetes experience.
  • Familiarity with Airflow.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps architecture and engineering within regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting mid-sized development teams and developing infrastructure as code for dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, CircleCI, and Git.
  • Experience with database technologies, including MongoDB, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
