We are seeking a Global Mobility & Immigration Director on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is hybrid onsite in Chicago, IL.


This role will lead and develop a specialized team of 4 professionals, including 1 Global Mobility consultant and 3 immigration specialists. He/she will also drive strategic initiatives while ensuring operational excellence across the AMER mobility program and US and global immigration to internal stakeholders.



Responsibilities:


U.S. Immigration (35%)

  • Oversee a comprehensive U.S. immigration program supporting 250+ foreign national employees
  • Manage external vendor partnerships for visa/work permit processing, ensuring federal compliance
  • Provide guidance to recruiters, people partners, and hiring managers on visa sponsorships, renewals, and permanent residency
  • Run the annual H-1B Cap program; establish timelines, communications, and training with external vendors
  • Conduct immigration assessments based on business and employee needs; communicate processes, timelines, and risks
  • Monitor legislative and industry immigration trends; propose strategic updates and implementation plans
  • Collaborate with HR Services on change management initiatives related to policy/process updates
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex immigration cases
  • Review and approve monthly vendor invoices


Global Immigration (35%)

  • Oversee immigration processing and expiry tracking for 350+ employees
  • Design and implement immigration policies, workflows, and processes that ensure compliance and scalability
  • Establish compliance protocols; conduct audits for expirations, terminations, and job changes
  • Build and manage relationships with external immigration partners; set and review performance metrics
  • Lead the development of a global immigration strategy aligned with business and compliance needs
  • Monitor international immigration regulations and provide proactive guidance
  • Review and approve bi-monthly vendor invoices


Americas Global Mobility (30%)

  • Oversee international assignments, permanent transfers, and international remote work for the Americas region
  • Manage ~50+ international and 50+ U.S. domestic relocations annually
  • Lead consultations with internal stakeholders on business needs, policies, and compliance
  • Serve as the main point of contact for leadership and HR throughout the mobility process
  • Advise on timelines, cost estimates, recommended policies, and partner involvement
  • Partner with tax and relocation vendors to advise on international tax and compliance
  • Collaborate with Finance, Tax, and Payroll for accurate data tracking and reporting
  • Review and approve weekly relocation invoices and monthly tax invoices
