Job description

Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing.


We are seeking a Director of Men's Apparel Design on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in NYC.



Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Men's Design team, including managing 2 direct reports.
  • Develop brand-right, value-driven products aligned with customer needs.
  • Translate design concepts into commercially optimized products for customers.
  • Ensure product aesthetic, quality, and cost align with brand image and target customer expectations.
  • Maintain financial performance within Design.
  • Oversee design across all product categories.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with CAD, Graphic Design, Merchandising, and Production teams.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience leading and developing design teams.
  • Strong apparel design experience across multiple product categories.
  • Strong understanding of product aesthetics, quality, and cost management.
  • Ability to balance creative vision with commercial and financial objectives.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
