Job description

Change the game with us.

Our Client is a management consulting company and Certified B Corporation that helps purpose-driven organizations align people strategy with business strategy to create high-performing, great places for all to work. We combine analytical rigor with deep care to solve complex people and culture challenges—and we’re looking for a thoughtful, skilled Director of Operations to help us do that work even better.

This is a part-time role for someone who finds meaning in building the systems that allow great work to happen. You’ll be a trusted partner to our consulting team, creating the operational backbone that enables impact, growth, and sustainability—for our clients, our business, and our community.

Why this role matters

As Director of Operations, you’ll design and run the systems that help Paradox operate with clarity, efficiency, and intention. Because of your work, we’ll be better positioned to source and serve clients, measure and deepen our impact, and scale thoughtfully without losing what makes us, us.

You’ll have meaningful influence from day one. This is a role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, thrives in a small, entrepreneurial environment, and takes pride in turning ideas into practical, well-run systems.

What you’ll do

Build and scale the operational foundation

  • Design, implement, and document scalable systems and processes that improve quality, efficiency, and accountability
  • Manage and optimize the back-end systems that keep the business running smoothly (e.g., insurance, vendors, service providers)
  • Develop and oversee technology and tools for collaboration, file sharing, and cloud-based knowledge management

Enable strong execution and delivery

  • Implement and manage internal project management and collaboration systems
  • Track and communicate project performance, profitability, and team capacity
  • Support client delivery through effective onboarding, offboarding, and internal coordination
  • Enable the team by integrating AI and automation tools that enhance quality and efficiency with attention to ethical and sustainable business practices

Support a healthy, sustainable business

  • Partner on financial operations, including budgeting, cash flow management, and financial decision-making
  • Put systems in place to support business planning and recurring revenue streams
  • Manage quarterly goal-setting and business planning sessions
  • Help translate strategy into clear, operational action

Measure what matters

  • Expand and deepen Paradox’s impact measurement and continuous improvement efforts
  • Own and manage the B Impact Assessment process
  • Strengthen how we track, learn from, and communicate our impact

Be a connective force

  • Support accountability across the team so work gets done well and on time
  • Represent Paradox, alongside the team, at selected events and conferences
  • Bring a thoughtful, collaborative presence that strengthens how we work together

What you bring

We’re less concerned with a specific background and more interested in how you think and work. You might come from operations, project management, HR, technology, business, accounting, engineering, or another systems-oriented path.

You likely bring:

  • Systems-level thinking and a strong instinct for improving how things work
  • Comfort with technology and learning new tools quickly
  • Experience with project management in a service-based environment
  • A bias toward action—you enjoy doing, building, and iterating
  • High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and navigate ambiguity
  • The ability to prioritize changes that will create measurable impact
  • A thoughtful, kind, and inclusive approach to collaboration
  • Familiarity with B Corps or impact measurement (through work, education, or lived experience)
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience

What it’s like to work with us:

We are professional and caring, strategic and human. We value clarity over noise, curiosity over ego, and progress with purpose. As a small team, we work closely, think deeply, and care about how our work shows up in the world.

Working with us means:

  • Having real influence in a growing, values-driven firm
  • Being trusted to take initiative and shape how the business operates
  • Doing work that is good for people and good for business
  • Joining a team that is thoughtful, supportive, and committed to playing the long game

If you’re excited by the idea of building systems that enable meaningful impact—and doing it with a team that genuinely cares—we’d love to hear from you.

Location: Remote (Eastern Time preferred)

We are ideally looking for someone based in North Carolina, but are open to candidates across the Southeast. Our team works remotely and occasionally gathers in person in the NC Triangle.

Schedule: ~20 hours/week, with opportunity to grow

Pay Range & Benefits: $40,000-$50,000 salary for 20 hours/week commensurate with experience. We provide opportunity for health insurance, retirement plan with company match, annual bonus, flexible work arrangements, and learning & development.
