The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a Director of Pricing Strategy and Strategic Finance to join them on a contract basis.

About The Team

The strategic finance team is responsible for developing financial analyses and forecasts across various product lines, analyzing Etsy's P&L, and contributing to company-wide financial planning processes, including their Strategic Financial Planning and Monthly Forecast processes. Team members serve as strategic thought partners to organization leaders to drive business metrics and growth.

About The Role
We are looking for a Director of Pricing and Strategic Finance. In this role, you will be responsible for (1) Establishing pricing frameworks: Design and implement pricing models by market and revenue line that align with the company's business objectives, market positioning, and competitive landscape. (2) Conducting market research: Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, customer preferences, and external factors to define optimal pricing strategies. (3) Collaborating with cross-functional teams: Work closely with product, marketing, finance teams to ensure alignment of pricing strategies with business goals. You will own and influence Etsy's overall pricing strategy along with the Product Manager of Take Rate.
You communicate clearly and are able to successfully juggle multiple priorities and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment. You are responsive and adapt quickly to change, embrace challenges and champion the advancement of financial planning tools, systems, controls and analyses. You will thrill in translating this hard work into outputs that will enhance Senior Management and Board-Level decision making and further Etsys mission to re-imagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world.

This is a contractor role reporting to the Director, Strategic Finance.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the annual pricing review process to incorporate trends and external and internal company insights into the pricing roadmap. This will include:
  • Analyzing and understanding new trends in the e-commerce space
  • Build out market specific pricing strategies based on analysis of macroeconomic factors, cost of doing business (cost based pricing), new value we are bringing to market (value based pricing)
  • Develop a view of our compliance and regulatory investment and impact on how we price in certain regions
  • Present new opportunities to increase or decrease prices, leverage promotion pricing that align and push forward company strategies
  • Own take rate financial analysis as part of the Strategic Finance team and create reporting for strategic finance reporting processes as well as support internal and external decks
  • You will influence senior leaders to align the product roadmap along with the product team
  • Partner with finance colleagues and business partners to produce monthly and quarterly financial reviews for the Executive Team and Board of Directors
    Requirements

    Must-Haves
    • Entrepreneurial spirit to build and implement a pricing vision for Etsy with strategic thinking with a focus on driving business metrics and revenue growth
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills: Knowledge of cost structures, profitability analysis, and financial metrics to ensure pricing strategies contribute to the overall financial goals.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and explaining pricing decisions to ET and other senior leads.

    Nice-to-Haves
    • 10+ years of finance or pricing experience, e-commerce or marketplace background a plus
    • Ability to work with large data sets and synthesize into insights and actionable improvements
    Hours and Location
    • Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week
    • Remote/US EST time zone
