We are seeking a Documentation Engineer, Technical Writer on a contract basis to document our industry-leading software and technology for developers around the world. Our team teaches some of the world’s most brilliant engineers how to build incredibly complex applications and experiences. Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of effectively capturing and communicating technical concepts related to software development procedures. This role is a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite in Burlingame, CA.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and maintain documentation and related development materials for tools, products, and platforms that form the typical flows of software development
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and support teams to ensure the quality and accuracy of content
  • Design, draft, and edit technical and process documentation
  • Support multiple programming languages and development platforms
  • Create and maintain code samples and sample applications, as needed

Must-Haves:

  • Writing Samples
  • At least 7 years of overall relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience authoring complex technical documentation for an engineering audience
  • Strong knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training
  • Experience with SDK or API documentation for a technical audience
  • Experience working with markdown content formatting
  • Experience interpreting example code so that it can be explained to users
  • Experience using source control to manage and publish content
  • Established record of project ownership, project management, and self-direction
  • Experience collaborating effectively across multiple teams and competing deadlines
  • Familiarity with game engine development (Unity, Unreal Engine), web development, or Android development preferred
  • Familiarity with software infrastructure concepts and technologies preferred
  • Understand Software Development Life Cycle preferred
  • Software Infrastructure experience preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or English or equivalent work experience

Hours & Location:

  • M-F, 40 hours/week. This role is a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite in Burlingame, CA.
