Job description
Our Customer is a technology company that connects people with the best of their neighborhoods across the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Germany. They enable local businesses to meet consumers’ needs of ease and convenience, and, in turn, generate new ways for people to earn, work, and live. By building the last-mile logistics infrastructure for local commerce, they’re fulfilling their mission to grow and empower local economies.
We are seeking an HR Employee Relations Partner on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote in MST/PST.
The Employee Relations Specialist will independently manage employee relations (ER) cases and lead the resolution of complex workplace issues. This role provides guidance to HRBPs and people leaders, conducts investigations, and ensures consistency in policy application. Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager, this position works closely with HR, Legal, and People Team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead investigations into employee concerns and policy violations, from intake to resolution.
- Serve as a consultative partner to HRBPs and leaders, providing guidance on disciplinary actions, performance management, and employee interventions.
- Conduct structured fact-finding, interviews, and workplace assessments to gather information and analyze cases.
- Document findings, evaluate risks, and recommend fair, consistent resolutions.
- Identify systemic issues and collaborate with leadership to develop mitigation strategies, including process or policy updates.
- Provide coaching to people leaders on handling conflict, delivering feedback, and navigating difficult conversations.
- Support ER-related training initiatives and mentor junior ER specialists on case management best practices.
- Contribute to ongoing policy alignment and improvement of ER frameworks, tools, and processes.
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Legal Studies, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in employee relations, human resources, workplace compliance, or conflict resolution.
- Proven experience managing complex ER matters and guiding managers and employees through sensitive workplace issues.
- HR or ER certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
- Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments (e.g., tech or startups). (preferred)
- Familiarity with employment laws and best practices in employee relations.
- Previous experience delivering training or coaching on workplace policies.
- Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance business needs with fairness and compliance.
- Experience with case management systems or HR technology tools.
- Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
