The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a Engagement and Retention Marketing Manager to join them on a contract basis.
About The Role
We are seeking a well rounded Lifecycle Marketing Manager and marketing technologist with passion and experience in creating effective customer experiences and building complex multi-channel experiments and programs in our Marketing Automation Platform that help expand the reach and personalization of our CRM channels. This role will be working closely with our Marketing Analytics, Martech, Product, Research, and Merchandising teams to innovate campaigns through automation, segmentation, and personalization.
The CRM team is part of the Product & Retention Marketing team within the Etsy Marketing Organization, and it owns the strategy, data integration, production, deployment, and reporting of marketing campaigns that help more than 95 million buyers worldwide find and purchase the perfect item on Etsy and leaves them wanting to come back again and again, and provides over 7.5 million sellers with the mentorship and support they need to continue to grow their business on Etsy.
We’re looking for a strategic and technical leader with a proven track record of executing highly targeted, app-focused communication campaigns. This person is passionate about improving app engagement through user segmentation, personalized content, channel automation, and merchandised experiences. The ideal candidate will be skilled at implementing a CRM app engagement strategy with agility and precision and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution and optimization of Etsy’s app engagement campaigns, creating data-driven, customer-centric programs that enhance the in-app experience and drive buyer retention.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Brand, Martech Engineering, Legal, Design, and Marketing Analytics to plan, manage, and execute the CRM App Engagement roadmap, achieving key objectives such as app usage, buyer growth, and engagement frequency.
- Collaborate on prioritizing a technical roadmap with Martech Engineering to enhance the app’s messaging capabilities and optimize scalable, relevant content delivery.
- Refine planning processes and production workflows to ensure seamless campaign execution tailored to app users.
- Analyze performance results and provide actionable insights (including weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting) to guide message prioritization and optimize buyer impact through a customer-centric lens.
- Take ownership of longitudinal and multi-variant testing for app audiences, ensuring campaigns align with Etsy’s strategic priorities and exceed CRM app engagement goals.
- Use CRM tools and services such as Braze, Segment, Litmus, ReturnPath, HTML, and SQL to build, test, and deploy app campaigns with attention to quality assurance and adherence to best practices.
- Communicate and coordinate campaign statuses, launch confirmations, ETAs, blockers, and dependencies with internal teams and stakeholders.
- This role requires occasionally working outside of normal business hours such as weekends, late nights, or early mornings depending on campaign launch times and any urgent messages that need to be delivered
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in a CRM or Marketing Automation building and implementing campaigns across multiple channels in an ESP platform or Marketing Automation Platform
- Demonstrated success in building complex marketing automation campaigns in Braze using connected content calls, webhooks, liquid logic, and canvas as well as comfort in manipulating HTML to build marketing communications
- Strong project management, delivering successful long term campaign execution
- Ability to work at a fast pace while handling competing priorities.
- Technical skill with a proven track record to quickly learn new skills and assimilate new technologies
- Accountability to deliver high quality work and are proactive to share new insights with peers and leadership
- Highly collaborative and operate with integrity, confidence, and compassion.
- Passionate about supporting small businesses and obssessed with creating an amazing user experience for our buyers and sellers
- Working knowledge of CAN-SPAM/CASL/GDPR requirements and inbox deliverability standards
- Working knowledge of data segmentation and attribution, including knowledge of SQL
Hours and Location
- Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week
- Remote in EST hours.
