Job description
Our client is a small family law firm with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Region looking for additional part-time help. They’re looking for a contract attorney to work part-time on all family law issues, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements and Marvin actions.
Core responsibilities
- Draft declarations, legal briefs, and family law forms
- Manage discovery
- Work with forensic and other types of experts
- Work with staff and clients to negotiate written and oral presentations
Qualifications/Skills
- The attorney must have 5+ years of experience as a family law attorney
- The attorney must be licensed as an attorney in California
- No history of discipline with the State Bar of California
- No malpractice claims levied against the Client
- High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Deep knowledge of California family law
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to use legal research software like Lexus and Westlaw.
- Ability to create support calculations using Dissomaster and the DCSS child support calculator
- Enough facility with math to read/create property division matrices, valuations and child/spousal support calculations
- Experience in any of the counties in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Region is required (the more the better)
This role is extremely part-time (5+ hours/week) and for an independent contractor. Compensation is on an hourly basis and very competitive. There are no benefits. This position is 100% remote.
The position is ideal for a lawyer with their own practice who wants to top off their hours every week. The position is also ideal for a person emerging from a maternity/paternity leave or family medical leave.
The number of hours may increase as trust is developed and business dictates.
