Job description

Accountant

In-Office: Concord, CA - East Bay


**For the first 6 weeks, role would require training in Galt, CA with a fuel stipend for the commute


***Opportunity to reduce to 24-25 hours a week / flex up to 30 hours during crucial times (quarter end close)*** at an hourly rate $40-48 ***


Core Responsibilities


1. Financial Accounting

• Support monthly and quarterly close activities to ensure accurate and complete financial data.

• Manage the fixed asset ledger: evaluate invoices for capital purchases, set up and retire assets, and reconcile to the general ledger.

• Amortize and reconcile intangible and prepaid assets.

• Book accruals and reconcile balance sheet accounts.

• Propose journal entries and adjustments during month- and quarter-end close.

2. Internal Controls

• Assist the CFO in developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies.

3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Contribute to the development of the annual budget and forecast.
  • Track actual performance against forecast and provide variance analysis.


4. Regulatory Compliance

• Assist in evaluating revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.

• Assist in evaluating lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842.

• Prepare audit documentation and respond to auditor requests as needed.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with hands-on experience in journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, macros, data analysis).
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and people skills; team-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Experience with Sage Intact is a plus.
