Job description

We are a vertically integrated renewable energy company engaged in project development, asset ownership and management, construction, and ongoing maintenance. We believe that by engaging in the full lifecycle of projects we can better serve our partners in the community. We harness the untapped potential of green infrastructure to help communities become more resilient, equitable and sustainable places to live. We are focused on creating a collaborative atmosphere, with a strong sense of pride in our work.

Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Controller with a strong background in financial management, accounting operations, and strategic planning—ideally within the construction, real estate development, or renewable energy sectors. These industries share key financial and operational characteristics with solar development, making relevant experience highly valuable.

The Controller will oversee the company’s day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role also encompasses financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and the implementation of internal controls and accounting systems to support the company’s growth and mission.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of GAAP, job costing, project-based accounting, and compliance requirements relevant to the industry. They should be comfortable preparing and presenting financial statements and performance metrics to ownership and senior leadership and be adept at identifying financial risks and opportunities.

A commitment to sustainability and a collaborative mindset are essential, as the Controller plays a key role in aligning financial operations with Flywheel’s mission-driven goals. The ability to analyze complex financial data, draw actionable insights, and adapt to shifting project priorities is critical for success in this role. If you thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and are passionate about using your financial expertise to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.
