Senior Financial Systems and Transformation Manager

The Mom Project is excited to support Etsy with their search for a Senior Financial Systems & Transformation Manager to join their team on a contract basis.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Financial Systems & Transformation Manager to join our team.

This role serves as the primary Workday Financials administrator within FSS, working closely with Finance, Accounting, and cross-functional partners to support, maintain, and continuously improve our financial systems ecosystem. You'll also contribute to Etsy's active efforts to apply AI and automation to transform how our finance function operates.

About the Team

This role is part of the Finance Transformation organization, sitting within the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) org and reporting up through the Senior Director of Global Finance Transformation. Our team brings together two closely connected functions: Financial System Solutions (FSS) and the broader Finance Transformation team.

Together, we're responsible for the systems, processes, and strategic initiatives that power Etsy's global finance function. FSS owns the administration, maintenance, and support of Etsy's core financial systems, keeping them reliable, secure, and optimally configured for the people who depend on them every day. Finance Transformation drives the strategic programs, innovations, and cross-functional projects that continuously evolve how Finance operates at Etsy.

It's a collaborative, high-impact team where deep technical expertise meets strategic thinking and where the work we do directly enables Finance to operate at its best. We're also at the forefront of Etsy's efforts to harness AI and automation to reimagine how finance processes work, partnering across the organization to identify opportunities where intelligent tooling can drive speed, accuracy, and scale.

Responsibilities:

End-User Support & System Administration

• Manage Zendesk requests and execute system configuration changes in compliance with SOX change management requirements
• Troubleshoot and resolve user issues across financial systems
• Administer user security, including configuration and assignment of security roles in line with control requirements
• Create clear, maintainable user documentation and job aids; train Finance system champions on financial system functionality
• Collaborate with the broader Finance Transformation team to implement new system functionality and own its ongoing administration

Workday Financials Administration

• Analyze business problems and translate them into system or process solutions, including Workday Business Process and security configuration, Custom Validations, Integrations, and new functionality
• Serve as primary admin for Workday FIN areas: Financial Accounting, Financial Data Model, Banking, Payroll, Business Assets, Consolidations, and Tenant Administration
• Design, build, and maintain custom reports in partnership with business owners; uphold report design best practices
• Lead analysis, planning, regression testing, and implementation for Workday's biannual feature updates
• Monitor integrations between Workday and partner systems, ensuring reliable data flow and resolving failures
• Actively engage with the Workday community to source solutions and identify improvements relevant to Etsy

Auxiliary Systems Support

• Support Blackline (Account Reconciliation & Task Management) through configuration, user access management, and integration oversight
• Provide support for auxiliary systems, including Planful, Workiva, and Coupa, and their related integrations
• Complete SOX tasks, including change management monitoring, user access recertifications, and control documentation in collaboration with Internal Audit and Controls teams
• Partner with HR, Treasury, FP&A, Legal, and Tax to ensure cross-system alignment

Program & Project Management

• Maintain and iterate on the team's project management system, tracking projects, ownership, resources, and timelines
• Compile and manage project plans appropriate to each project's scope and timing
• Lead critical projects using SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.) as assigned
• Engage with senior leadership on project goals and outcomes as needed

Finance Transformation

• Partner with the Finance Transformation team to identify, scope, and deliver initiatives that modernize how Etsy's finance function operates
• Actively contribute to Etsy's exploration of AI and automation opportunities within finance - from surfacing use cases to supporting implementation and change management
• Collaborate cross-functionally to assess current-state processes and recommend future-state solutions that drive efficiency, accuracy, and scale
• Support the rollout and adoption of new tools, capabilities, and ways of working across the Finance org, ensuring changes land effectively with end users

Skills and Qualifications:

• 4+ years of hands-on Workday Financials system administration experience
• Working knowledge of core financial processes (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Revenue Recognition, Period End Close, Banking & Settlement, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset; realizes that being strategic and tactical are not mutually exclusive
• Ability to balance control requirements with operational efficiency to bring the greatest value to Etsy
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities and shifting deadlines simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end while contributing as a team member on others
• Experience working in a global, multi-currency environment
• Experience managing and troubleshooting system integrations
• Coupa administration experience, including configuration, user access management, and support of procurement and invoicing workflows
• Familiarity with or curiosity about applying AI and automation tools to transform finance operations - Etsy's Finance Transformation team is actively exploring how AI can improve and evolve our financial systems and processes

Hours and Location:

• M-F, 40 hours/week
• Hybrid role based out of our Brooklyn, NY office, with an expectation of 2 days per week on-site.
