About Client
A 120-employee B2B contract manufacturing company with global operations across Taiwan, Shanghai, Vietnam, and New York. They specialize in manufacturing consumer hard goods (plastics, metal, wood, electronics, and glass) for clients in the US, Europe, and Australia. They are establishing a corporate venture fund to invest in innovative startups in the consumer products, industrial tech, and supply chain space.
About the Role Seeking a part-time Investment Manager to help build and manage the corporate venture investment pipeline. This is a unique opportunity to shape the company's venture strategy from the ground up while working flexibly (~10 hours per week). You'll work directly with our CEO and investment committee to identify, evaluate, and execute early-stage investments in companies that align with our strategic focus.
Core Responsibilities
- Source and identify investment opportunities in consumer products, industrial tech, supply chain, and related sectors through active networking and research
- Screen incoming opportunities and pitch decks, providing initial evaluation and recommendations to the investment committee
- Build and maintain relationships with venture capital firms, accelerators, industry partners, and startup founders
- Conduct preliminary due diligence on potential investments, including market analysis, business model evaluation, and financial assessment
- Manage the deal pipeline and coordinate with the investment committee to move opportunities through our decision process
- Refine and evolve our investment thesis and strategy based on market insights and deal flow
- Prepare investment memos and presentations for committee review
- Support post-investment relationship management and portfolio monitoring
Qualifications/Skills
- 5-10 years of professional experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting, investment analysis, or related fields
- Strong business judgment and analytical skills with ability to evaluate business models, financials, and market opportunities
- Experience in or deep understanding of consumer products, startups (strongly preferred)
- Excellent networking and relationship-building abilities
- Financial literacy and comfort analyzing early-stage company metrics
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain momentum on projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting recommendations
- Experience with investment transactions, M&A, corporate development, or startup ecosystems (preferred but not required)
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort in ambiguous, early-stage environments
