Job description
Our Customer is an American financial services mutual organization based in Milwaukee. The financial security company provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, financial planning trust and private client services, estate planning and business planning. Its products include life insurance, permanent life insurance, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.
Our customer is looking for a Full Stack Engineer on a contract basis to help support their ongoing business needs. This role is on-site in Milwaukee, WI.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications and solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with client and business needs
- Participate in Agile software development processes, including planning, development, testing, and deployment
- Perform peer reviews of technical designs and application code to ensure quality and maintainability
- Apply system design patterns and architectural best practices to software solutions
- Develop and maintain front-end applications using React and related technologies
- Build and support back-end services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, or Java Spring Boot
- Support DevOps activities, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support processes
- Work with relational and non-relational databases to support application functionality and performance
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to communicate requirements, solutions, and technical concepts
- Troubleshoot complex application issues and implement effective solutions
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering or application development
- Experience developing software solutions using Agile methodologies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and business teams
- Experience conducting peer reviews for technical designs and code
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system design patterns
- Strong proficiency with React.js, HTML5, CSS, functional components, hooks, and Redux
- Experience with Node.js using JavaScript or TypeScript, or Java Spring Boot
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience with DevOps practices, Git, and monitoring/support tools such as Dynatrace and ELK
- Experience with AWS services, including SQS, Lambda, S3, and Kafka
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with Postgres and DynamoDB preferred
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with TypeScript
- Experience with Figma or UX design tools
- Experience with DynamoDB
- Experience supporting cloud-native or distributed applications
