Job description
Our Customer is a consumer financial services company headquartered in Connecticut. The company offers consumer financing products, including credit, promotional financing and loyalty programs, installment lending to industries, and FDIC-insured consumer savings products through the consumer bank, its wholly owned online bank subsidiary.
We are seeking a Fullstack Javascript Developer on a contract basis to support our customer’s ongoing business needs. This role is 100% remote, East Coast hours.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Kotlin and Java web applications using modern frameworks and technologies for both front-end and back-end development
- Work extensively with AWS services to deploy, scale, and manage web applications (e.g., Docker, Lambda, SNS/SQS, S3)
- Design and implement microservices-based solutions using event-based domain-driven design (DDD) principles
- Utilize experience in JavaScript, Kotlin, and Java across frontend and backend components
- Apply software design principles and UML methodology to produce well-structured, maintainable, and scalable code
- Provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for one or more technology domains
- Collaborate with delivery teams and cross-functional groups to architect, design, develop, test, and release features
- Lead and mentor small teams of developers, offering guidance and technical expertise
- Provide constructive feedback during code reviews
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of IT development or testing experience, OR high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of web application development experience focused on JavaScript frameworks
- 3+ years of JavaScript programming experience and 2+ years of Kotlin experience in a cloud environment
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design patterns, microservices architecture, and event-driven design
- Experience with information security from a systems development perspective (OWASP, OAUTH2, etc.)
- Experience with integration technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or MuleSoft
- Proficiency in web development technologies, including HTML, XML, JavaScript, ASP, SQL, Java or Python, and SOAP/REST web services
- Experience using continuous integration tools such as Git, Atlassian Bitbucket Pipelines, and Docker
Preferred:
- Leadership experience with a track record of leading small technical teams (2+ years)
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures
- Ability to gather and analyze unrefined business requirements and translate them into clear test plans
- Ability to work under pressure across multiple projects and deadlines
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong initiative
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and think creatively
