Job description
Must live in the Chicago, IL area because you will need to be onsite.

Since our formation in 1992, it has raised eight funds with aggregate capital of over $28 billion and has completed investments in more than 155 companies. Our focus is on management buyout and growth equity transactions across a broad spectrum of industries including basic industries, business & government software and services, financial & transaction services, health care, and telecom, media, & technology services.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FUND ACCOUNTANT TO JOIN OUR TEAM!
We are seeking a Fund Accountant to join its Finance team, specifically within the accounting function. The Fund Accountant will report to the Senior Fund Accountants and VP of Accounting and Tax.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR TEAM:
• Maintain and prepare both GAAP and Tax books and records, periodic financial statements and capital account statements for various private equity funds, holding companies, and management entities
• Assist in the monthly/quarterly close process and completion of related control documentation (both tax and GAAP)
• Respond to accounting related investor inquiries
• Coordinate with public accounting firm auditors and prepare audited financial statements
• Apply accounting rules to investment fund transactions
• Apply the limited partnership agreement provisions to investment fund transactions and partner allocations
• Prepare capital call and distribution allocations and investor notifications via our investor correspondence system
• Support various aspects of our Tax function such as reviewing federal and state K-1s, providing information to tax advisors, discrete projects
• Assist with various ad hoc projects such as improvements to investor reporting, accounting software upgrades, fundraising, etc.
• Research accounting requirements within the Audit Guide for Investment Companies, as needed
WHAT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE LOOKS LIKE:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Proficient in Excel (formulas, shortcuts, etc.)
• Detail oriented with a strong work ethic
• Team player willing to take on many different tasks in a small team environment
• Positive attitude that can contribute favorably to the finance team’s culture
• Ability to multitask
• CPA not required but encouraged
