Job description
Part-Time Grant Writer
- Job Type: Part-time, 4-6 hours per week, project based, 4 month contract
- Pay: $40-70 hour, based on experience
- Work Location: Remote
- Candidates should either be in the East Coast or willing to work Eastern Standard Time
Our academic support foundation seeks a highly organized professional with significant grant writing and grant researching skills and experience to provide part-time, remote help researching, developing, and preparing proposals for corporations, foundations, and donors.
The grant writer works in partnership with staff and academic fellows to apply for funding to support enterprise-level initiatives, individual research projects, and applied research.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations and institutional funders in support of academic research.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, handle multiple projects in parallel, collaborate with a diverse array of researchers, and have the ability to turn concepts and ideas into compelling proposals.
We are an independent non-profit organization supporting the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. We exist to provide financial and professional support to the Institute, and to communicate the findings of the Institute’s research to societal leaders to advance the common good.
As a part of this role, you will be supporting our non-profit subsidiary which will require work with seminaries and pastors and the ideal candidate should be comfortable and familiar with faith-based organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and write proposals for institutional and donor funding.
- Work collaboratively with organizational leaders and academic fellows to identify, evaluate, shape, and submit new proposals.
- Ensure all projects are completed on-time and satisfy funder’s proposal requirements.
Requirements:
- Previous grant writing experience, preferably in higher education or other academic setting.
- 2-3 writing samples showcasing proposal writing skills, redacted as necessary.
- Excellent writing skills and exceptional grammar and spelling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills.
- Experience managing projects in a virtual environment.
