Job description

Title: Grant Writer
Status: 3 months to start, ongoing if mutually agreed upon
Hourly Rate: $25/hr
Location: Chicago, Illinois - Remote, anywhere in the US, Chicago Preferred

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Grant Writer to join our team. The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in securing funding to support the ongoing operations and future growth. This individual will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Research and Identification:

  1. Identify and research potential funding opportunities that align with our mission and goals.
  2. Stay informed about grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

Grant Proposal Development:

  1. Write and prepare high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
  2. Tailor each proposal to meet the specific requirements of the funder, ensuring clarity, completeness, and compliance with guidelines.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  1. Work closely with the Executive Director and other team members to gather necessary information for proposals.
  2. Coordinate with various departments to obtain accurate data, project details, and budget information.

Grant Reporting:

  1. Prepare and submit timely reports to funders on the progress and outcomes of funded projects.
  2. Maintain detailed records of grant submissions, awards, and follow-up activities.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience in grant writing, with a successful track record of securing grants for nonprofit organizations.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Strong research skills and the ability to identify and pursue funding opportunities.
  4. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Familiarity with the issues related to maternal support, childcare, and community development is a plus.
