Job description
Our customer is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They help researchers make new discoveries, doctors and nurses improve the lives of patients, and lawyers develop winning strategies. They prevent online fraud and money laundering and help insurance companies evaluate and predict risk. Their events combine in-person and digital experiences to help customers learn about markets, source products and complete transactions. In short, they enable customers to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive.
We are seeking a Healthcare Attorney on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.
This role will develop “how-to”-type practical guidance for topics of interest to attorneys representing healthcare providers, hospitals and health systems, and Medicare and Medicaid managed care plans and ACOs. Experience advising clients about a wide range of health law issues, including provider recruiting and licensing, operational issues (e.g., governance, organizational structure, and compliance programs), healthcare fraud and abuse (e.g., anti-kickback, Stark, and FCA), and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and compliance is a must. The hours for this position will depend on the candidate and the client's needs, but applicants should anticipate working on average 10–20 hours per week.
What You'll Do:
- Draft and/or edit practice notes (i.e., long-form memoranda), checklists, templates, 50-state surveys, and other practical guidance materials
- A Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to at least one state bar
- At least five years of experience as a health lawyer representing clients in transactional, regulatory, and compliance matters
- Extensive legal content editing experience, such as with bar association magazines or journals, law firm client alerts or newsletters, or other substantive legal publications
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Ability to complete assigned projects by prescribed deadlines
- Ability to accept feedback on writing and revise accordingly
- Organized and self-motivated
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
