We are seeking a contract Illinois Trusts and Estates Attorney to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is remote in the state of Illinois and will be filled on a part-time basis (5-15 hours/week).
Responsibilities:
- Draft and annotate pleadings, settlement agreements, and other documents related to probate administration, fiduciary litigation, guardianship proceedings, and other contested matters
- Draft, review, and revise practical guidance articles on Trusts and Estates topics, with emphasis on probate, fiduciary litigation, guardianships, and contested matters
- Draft checklists, charts, and other how-to guidance for contested Trusts and Estates matters
- Supplement existing documents with Illinois-specific practical guidance based on state law, local custom, and legal practice experience
Skills and Qualifications:
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Member, in good standing, of the Illinois State Bar
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a practicing Trusts and Estates attorney
- Substantive experience drafting estate planning documents, preparing pleadings, and related documents in probate administration, fiduciary litigation, guardianship proceedings, and contested Trusts and Estates matters
- Strong writing, editing, and legal research skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word with track changes and conducting online research
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to complete assigned projects by prescribed deadlines
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with strong task management skills
