Job description

Our Customer is a technology company that connects people with the best of their neighborhoods across the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Germany. They enable local businesses to meet consumers’ needs of ease and convenience, and, in turn, generate new ways for people to earn, work, and live. By building the last-mile logistics infrastructure for local commerce, they’re fulfilling our mission to grow and empower local economies.

We are seeking an In-Field Sales Development Representative on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site; candidates must be local to Rantoul, IL (or within close proximity).

Responsibilities:

  • Visit a high volume of restaurant prospects in the assigned territory, introduce the platform, and secure qualified meetings for Outside Account Executives
  • Identify the owner or key decision maker at each location and build trust through short, in-person conversations
  • Deliver a clear pitch on how the platform helps restaurants increase orders, reach new customers, and optimize operations
  • Log all visits, conversations, and outcomes accurately in CRM and sales tools (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Partner closely with Outside Account Executives to align on target accounts, ideal customer profiles, and follow-up plans
  • Plan and manage daily routes to maximize quality visits and meetings booked
  • Follow up with merchants via phone, text, and email to confirm meetings and maintain engagement
  • Meet and exceed weekly and monthly performance targets (meetings set, meetings held, revenue impact)
  • Provide field feedback from merchants to help improve messaging, sales approach, and product

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in outbound sales, canvassing, field marketing, or other customer-facing role, driving new business/sign-ups
  • Experience may come from sales, hospitality, retail, or service industries
  • Comfortable holding high-volume, short, in-person conversations daily
  • Ability to learn and clearly communicate the value proposition with confidence
  • Experience using CRMs or sales tools (e.g., Salesforce, Outreach) preferred
  • Restaurant, food & beverage, or local business experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly within assigned territory
  • Willingness to work restaurant-friendly hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
  • Strong in-person communication and relationship-building skills
  • Resilience and the ability to stay motivated after hearing “no”
  • Independent, self-directed work style with accountability for results
  • Competitive and goal-oriented mindset with performance-driven motivation
  • Strong organization and time management across the territory and follow-ups
  • Coachable and open to feedback, with an interest in long-term sales growth
  • Strong written communication skills for follow-ups and outreach

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Ability to be on one's feet for extended periods while visiting merchants
  • Ability to drive frequently within the assigned territory
  • Ability to carry light materials (flyers, one-pagers, tablet)

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
