Industrial Engineering Intern - Part-Time (Bowling Green, KY)

A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract Industrial Engineering Intern to help support their business needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in collecting and analyzing production, labor, and process data to improve workflow, efficiency, and resource utilization
• Observe manufacturing operations and document current processes, work balance, and sequence of operations
• Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist with documenting process improvements and standardized work
• Conduct time studies, motion analysis, and standardized work reviews
• Provide technical and analytical support to manufacturing, maintenance, and production teams
• Support plant layout activities using AutoCAD
• Learn manufacturing systems, plant workflows, and industrial engineering methods through hands-on experience
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams on operational improvement projects

Skills and Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field (ideally a sophomore at Western Kentucky or any 4-year institution)
• 0-2 years of related experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Ability to accurately document information
• Interest in manufacturing operations, lean principles, and continuous improvement

Hours and Location:

• This is an on-site role based in Bowling Green, KY. Work hours will be determined once a candidate is selected and can be adjusted to accommodate school schedules.
• The role is typically Monday through Friday, with flexibility around which days are spent onsite. There is no strict in-office schedule.
• This position is ideal for college students, particularly those attending local universities. The team is accustomed to working around class schedules and offers a high level of flexibility.
• Candidates may work up to 32 hours per week
