We are seeking an Information Architect on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement digital information architecture strategy, including data models, reference data, taxonomies, ontologies, metadata schemas, data normalization frameworks, lineage maps, and systems of record
- Translate data requirements from user experience, governance, analytics, and machine learning teams into scalable architecture solutions that improve engagement, efficiency, trust, and insights
- Maintain governance processes for defining, updating, and communicating metadata and specification guidelines in partnership with content, merchandising, and product teams
- Support data stewardship initiatives, ensuring product data remains reliable, discoverable, and aligned with strategic goals
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Information Architect, Product Management, Content, UX, Analytics, and senior leadership to enhance product information and expert knowledge assets
- Ensure information architecture investments complement existing ML, AI, and generative AI solutions
- Execute near-term (6–12 months) architecture strategy and iterate based on business and technology needs
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information science or related field preferred
- Advanced degree or certifications such as CDMP preferred
- 4+ years of experience shaping product data ecosystems for digital products or e-commerce, with success in information architecture and governance
- Demonstrated track record designing and implementing taxonomy, ontology, and metadata frameworks, including schemas, lineage maps, and systems of record
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into architecture and governance solutions for technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with AI-enhanced content solutions such as machine learning classification, semantic search, or conversational AI, and ability to align architectures with emerging technologies (e.g., agentic commerce)
- Experience using tools and platforms for data cataloging, metadata management, ontology/taxonomy management, data quality, and lineage
- Proven success influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment across operations, analytics, and product teams
- Experience working in agile, user-centric environments delivering data-driven solutions for large-scale digital ecosystems
- Knowledge of best practices in product data governance for e-commerce and digital platforms
