Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.
We are seeking an Senior Instructional Designer on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.
This role supports the Global Supply Chain team in designing and developing next-generation supply chain training programs. Responsibilities include content design and technology deployment for employee training focused on SAP and iValua systems, serving both internal employees and external supplier groups. Training deliverables may include web-based learning, instructor-led training, blended learning solutions, virtual classroom sessions, and supporting instructional materials.
The position supports strategic operational goals by leveraging current and emerging technologies to improve access to learning content while ensuring visual design remains innovative, user-centric, and aligned with brand standards. Responsibilities include creating engaging visual concepts that effectively communicate ideas, enhance knowledge transfer, and support employee development.
Success in this role requires a strong passion for instructional design, visual storytelling, and learning innovation. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can navigate projects with agility, rapidly prototype solutions, and continuously iterate based on feedback. This role also requires close collaboration with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders to develop impactful learning experiences that support employee growth and capability building.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop end-to-end curriculum and learning programs.
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify learning objectives and audience training needs.
- Apply human-centered and end-user design methodologies to learning programs and tools.
- Develop quick reference guides, interactive PDFs, and other training documentation.
- Use eLearning authoring tools to create digital learning content.
- Produce facilitator guides and scripts for instructor-led and virtual classroom training.
- Edit presentation slide decks from facilitators and SMEs to improve design and usability.
- Design and maintain online intranet websites using basic HTML and GUI interfaces.
- Deliver final training materials in print, document, and video formats.
- Ensure all deliverables align with established brand guidelines and design standards.
- Maintain intranet site content, online training content, and document libraries within LMS and internal systems.
- Research, implement, and optimize learning technologies and software for training programs.
- Influence adoption of instructor-led virtual classroom learning technologies.
- Advise team members on best practices for learning technologies and training delivery.
- Define and track measurement metrics to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Co-lead project management and rollout strategies for key training initiatives.
- Support virtual classroom training as both instructional designer and technical support resource.
- Maintain training records within LMS platforms and support LMS upgrades and customization.
- Stay current on training design trends, learning strategies, and emerging technologies.
- Partner with IT teams to support SAP transformation training initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5–10 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, learning and development, graphic design, visual communication, organizational development, human-centered design, education, or related field.
- Proven experience in end-to-end curriculum and learning program development.
- Experience conducting needs analysis for SAP or iValua training programs.
- Basic HTML, GUI, and website editing skills.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience with eLearning tools including Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise, and Camtasia.
- Strong visual and instructional design skills with portfolio required.
- Experience partnering with SMEs to gather requirements and develop training solutions.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and user-centered design.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality outputs on deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with global, multicultural, and multigenerational teams.
- Strong communication and consulting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Automate, and Qualtrics.
- Experience with virtual classroom platforms.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Availability for periodic evening or weekend support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design or Curriculum Development.
- Experience with cloud content management platforms.
- Administrative experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience with virtual classroom delivery systems.
- Experience supporting software or application implementations.
- Comfortable speaking to small and medium-sized groups, both in person and virtually.
