Job description
For more than 40 years, our Customer has been following science and seeking solutions to unmet medical needs. They are a biotechnology corporation that makes medicines to treat patients with serious medical conditions. Their goal is to use the power of genetic engineering and advanced technologies to make medicines that address unmet medical needs, and help millions of people worldwide.
We are seeking an Instructional Designer on a contract basis to help support our Customer’s business needs. This role is a hybrid setup with 2 days remote and 3 days onsite at our Customer's Vacaville, CA location.
The primary responsibility of the Instructional Designer/Learn Partner is to work closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand learning needs and expectations. Using this information the Designer/Partner will rapidly prototype and assimilate feedback and quickly incorporate any changes into the design process. The role will build materials ensuring timeliness, relevancy, effectiveness and engagement of learners. This position reports to the Head of the Vacaville Operations Learning Team (VOLT).
Responsibilities:
- Instructional Design
- In partnership with stakeholders and subject matter experts draft standard operating procedures to translate complicated information and documentation into formats that are easier to understand.
- In partnership with stakeholders and subject matter experts use Instructional Design Methodologies to assess, recommend, design and implement training programs using multiple learning methods (i.e. on-the-job, classroom, online, informal and blended delivery) that effectively address learning needs and translate learning to behavior.
- Determine if existing content will meet the learning needs assessment or if modification or new content will need to be developed.
- Apply established training development processes, standards, strategies and templates to ensure a holistic, consistent and compliant learning solution.
- As appropriate, include appropriate technology to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- For all courses developed, implement an evaluation strategy to test knowledge and/or competency.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback into the design process to ensure that the instructional materials meet their needs and expectations..
- Apply Lean management principles to develop training content at speed.
- To develop new learning solutions, adopt Lean approaches such as minimum viable products and sprints.
- Learn Partner
- Collaborate with training content owners to ensure training material standards are met
- Manage the implementation of the curriculum/content in collaboration with the curriculum owner to ensure assignment, communication, logistics and tracking are performed.
- Upload approved final source and published version of materials to the content repository
- Submit requests and partner with the Global Learning Services (GLS) eLearning Team to load updated content into Cornerstone production
- Training Delivery
- May deliver instructor-led or on the job training associated with assigned projects (Train the Trainer).
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or a related field
- 5-7 years experience applying core instructional design principles and theories to maximize learning
- Proficiency in course development software such as Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline) and Adobe Cloud.
- Experience creating SCORM compliant web based training.
- Experience conducting both instructor-led and/or on the job training.
- Experience using Google Suite (Slides, Docs, Sheets, Sites) and MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Ability to navigate learning management systems, (Cornerstone a plus)
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to successfully manage projects and/or lead a team of peers and/or stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Posses team-orientated approach; ability to quickly and consistently establish rapport; ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, team members and partners.
- Critical-thinking skills
- Concrete verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in a GMP Biologics Manufacturing facility a plus
- Experience with designing content for SAP, SingleLIMS, Veeva a plus
