Intellectual Property and Business Paralegal
Our Client - Legal company
- Remote
Job description
IP and Business Paralegal (remote / FT)
If your days are filled with deadlines, endless filings, and putting out fires, you’re not alone.
But what if your IP experience could be used to help growing businesses protect their brands, their content, and everything they’re building?
We are partnering with a law firm that provides tailored solutions for mission-driven online entrepreneurs as they build sustainable, impactful businesses and create success on their own terms.
They are looking for an experienced paralegal to work directly with our clients and legal team, supporting their trademark portfolios, guiding filings and maintenance, and helping businesses strategically protect and strengthen their brands as they grow.
As an IP and Business Paralegal, you will assist attorneys with trademark searches, trademark and copyright applications, gathering specimens and deposit copies, conducting monthly trademark monitoring, responding to Office Actions, drafting cease-and-desist letters, managing our IP docket, and tracking deadlines. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on general business matters, including drafting documents and submitting filings with secretaries of state and other business-related tasks.
Attention to detail and technology are key. Their firm is fully remote, so you should be able to work efficiently, drilling down to key information, and communicating clearly with our team and clients. If you’re not comfortable adapting to new software on the regular, this role will not be a good fit. Their work is fun, fast-moving, and challenging. No two days are alike. As outside general counsel for many of our clients, we find new surprises in our inbox every day.
Their perfect candidate is compassionate, knowledgeable, an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and great at juggling multiple deadlines, so nothing slips through the cracks. You have experience managing IP dockets and deadlines on your own. While you’re not afraid to ask for resources when needed, you’re comfortable taking ownership without seeking approval at every step.
You’ll be joining a team of A-players. We take pride in delivering high-quality work, and we work hard to do it well. But we also believe your best work happens when you have a full life outside of it. There will be busy seasons, but when you’re out of office, you’re not expected to be checking in.
As an IP and Business Paralegal, you will find a rhythm that serves your life while making sure your work gets done well and on time. We expect you to take responsibility for producing excellent outcomes, and will treat you like the grown-up professional you are.
No fire drills. No yelling. Champagne toasts for a job well done.
We are a collaborative and helpful team and genuinely enjoy spending time with each other (and our clients).
