Job description

With roots dating back to the 1800s, our Customer is a global professional services firm HQ’d in New York City with businesses in insurance brokerage, risk management, reinsurance services, talent management, investment advisory, and management consulting. Today, they are a unique group of businesses with many enduring competitive advantages. Among them are the quality of their colleagues, deep client relationships, vast global footprint, depth of intellectual capital, and cohesive and collaborative culture.

Our Customer is seeking a contract Internal Communications Senior Specialist to support their Operational Excellence transformation program in the US and Canada.. This role is hybrid in NYC (3 days onsite in Midtown - 2 blocks from Grand Central and 2 days remote/week).

As an Internal Communications Senior Specialist, you will develop and implement communication strategies and plans that engage colleagues and promote understanding of two separate but related projects aimed at unlocking new levels of productivity, collaboration and growth. You will partner with cross-functional teams to create clear, concise, and compelling internal communications that align with the organizational objectives. Experience planning and drafting change management communications and an ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization will be key.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development and Execution: Help develop and execute internal communications strategies and plans to support in driving measurable outcomes for two separate but closely aligned transformation projects in US&C. Ensure that internal communication activities are part of an overall plan-based, audience-centric, data-informed approach and that the communications supporting these projects are aligned with other Operational Excellence workstreams in terms of strategic messaging.
  • Content Creation and Distribution: Create and distribute high-quality content that is engaging, informative, and effective. Determine the most appropriate channels for distribution, such as email, intranet, colleague forums (e.g., Town Halls) or internal social platforms, to ensure maximum reach and impact. Ensure consistent tone, messaging, and content across channels and audiences.
  • Stakeholder Engagement / Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the project managers, change management leads, Human Resource partners, Marketing & Communications leaders and other stakeholders. Work with project teams to integrate change management activities into overall communications plans.
  • Communication Measurement and Analysis: Track and measure the effectiveness of communications specific to these two projects, gathering feedback and insights to improve strategies and messaging.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of internal communications experience or related communications experience in a corporate or agency environment.
  • Expertise in people management/change communications, ideally having to do with operations at large companies.
  • Equal comfort with hands-on execution and strategy development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to convey complex and sensitive information in clear and understandable formats to a wide range of audiences.
  • Disciplined, plan-based approach focused on flawless execution and always meeting deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport, collaborate with diverse personalities and influence others to support communication initiatives.
  • Familiarity with internal communication metrics.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications, Master’s a plus.
  • Change communications expertise, helping colleagues navigate transitions and maintaining engagement and morale during change.
  • Comfort working in a highly matrixed organization, where lines of authority and accountability can sometimes be ambiguous.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • A trusted advisor and partner to business leaders.
