We are seeking a contract Internal Communications Specialist to develop and implement communication strategies and plans that engage colleagues and promote understanding of projects aimed at unlocking new levels of productivity, collaboration, and growth. The role requires a strong understanding of change management principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations & Technology, Finance, HR, Business Leaders).
This role is a hybrid setup (3 days onsite and 2 days remote/week) in NYC.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development and Execution: Help develop and execute internal communications strategies and plans to support the company in driving measurable outcomes for US&C business transformation projects. Ensure that internal communication activities are part of an overall plan-based, audience-centric, data-informed approach and that the communications supporting these projects are aligned with other transformation workstreams.
- Content Creation and Distribution: Create and distribute high-quality content that is engaging, informative, and effective. Determine the most appropriate channels for distribution, such as email, intranet, colleague forums (e.g., Town Halls), or internal social platforms, to ensure maximum reach and impact. Ensure consistent tone, messaging, and content across channels and audiences.
- Stakeholder Engagement / Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the project managers, change management leads, Human Resource partners, Marketing & Communications leaders, and other stakeholders. Work with project teams to integrate change management activities into overall communications plans.
- Communication Measurement and Analysis: Track and measure the effectiveness of communications specific to these two projects, gathering feedback and insights to improve strategies and messaging.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of internal communications experience or related communications experience in a corporate or agency environment.
- Expertise in people management and change communications, particularly in large, matrixed organizations.
- Highly organized and capable of working independently
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering flawless or near-flawless work product.
- Committed to maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Equal comfort with hands-on execution and strategy development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Familiar with internal communication metrics.
- Contributes to a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications, Master’s a plus.
- Change management and change communications expertise, helping colleagues navigate transitions and maintain engagement and morale during change.
- Comfort working in a highly matrixed organization, where lines of authority and accountability can sometimes be ambiguous.
