Job description

This role starts with specific responsibilities and goals, but after 3 months of working together, our goal is to make it what YOU want it to be. We are an investment publishing company that we (husband and wife team) started after growing and selling our investment advisory practice in 2020.

Today, we are focused on 3 things:

  • Investing empowerment (typically for self-directed investors that have tried and failed because they followed the many sales-driven publishers that surround us. We are more help, less hype. And we focus on building skills to enable investors to research, construct and manage their own portfolios, the way I did for clients for 3 decades, and now do for my own family as a researcher/publisher.
  • Understanding how ETFs and portfolio management really work. Because we firmly believe there is a runaway "bull market" in miseducation and lack of education of today's investor. We aim to be an alternative to that. We are not about stock picks. We are about maintaining and building wealth, opening up my decades of experience, and what I've learned from both succeeding and failing, many times.
  • Delivering our approach through multiple venues, but through 2 key ones that we find work well together. One is Seeking Alpha, where I am an accomplished thought leader in ETF research and market strategy. The other is the subscription research site we recently created, which we aim to be the big long-term revenue generator.

So, that's our business. How might you fit in?

  • We want to identify reliable, responsible, driven, market-savvy people who are good to great writers. First, we will set you up to write about ETFs within our coverage list. That expands our research presence, gets you your own byline on a platform (Seeking Alpha) that reaches millions of people, earns you predictable compensation to start, and potentially sets you up to earn much more, once you have proven your skills and dedication to our mission.
  • You'll be assigned ETFs to write about each week, and we'll show you how to use the platform to deliver your insights within our framework, multiple times a week.
  • As we get to know each other over the first few months, our experience in this field will help us to help you find your passion within our infrastructure. Maybe you become a highly-followed analyst on Seeking Alpha. Or, maybe your work there is a springboard to other investment writing opportunities (I have a strong network, having been a freelance contributor to 10 different investment industry publications over the years, including 3 right now).
  • Ideally, you will help us to grow our site. First by helping us attract subscribers indirectly through your paid written work. Then by helping us with our content development and potentially being an additional analyst/voice on our expanding site.
  • Importantly, we have set a high bar for this position. We've brought in many people over the years that either lacked the consistency, work ethic, investment acumen or were just not able to write at a high enough level to get approved by the editors we work with. We are reaching out through the Mom Project because we think that folks who have those skills, but are returning to the work force, or have some of the skills and can easily pick up the others, should know about this very unique opportunity we are offering to be part of our emerging business.
  • Finally, understand that we firmly believe that the investment industry has way too much testosterone! That is why we look to networks like the Mom Project to provide high-upside opportunities for a diverse group of talented investment writers/researchers, who many not have had the shot they really needed to hit their potential. We've been there, we know what it feels like. So we look forward to speaking with highly-qualified candidates.
