We are seeking an IT Implementation Engineer on a contract basis to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote Virginia.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of technology, coordinating voice and data services for small to medium-sized locations. You'll be involved in projects for new locations, relocations, renovations, and acquisitions.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and coordination skills, an understanding of voice and data services, can work effectively with third-party partners, and a proactive approach to meeting branch needs.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate the provisioning of fax and alarm services, ethernet, broadband, and dedicated internet access. Handling the procurement of vital hardware, such as networking equipment, paging systems, and wireless devices.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure smooth installation of services and infrastructure.
- Respond to voice and data service requests from the branches.
- Set day-to-day objectives and deliver job responsibilities that may vary outside typical norms or practices.
- Work independently and may be required to apply discretion within established operational boundaries and procedures.
- Check and make minor adjustments to work methods to solve problems that may not be immediately evident in existing work processes and systems. However, may have references or help from norms and/or standard procedures to solve these problems (e.g., operating manuals, ability to discuss in teams or escalate issues to manager).
- Engineer and implement the following technologies: Wireless, VOIP, Data routing/switching, call routing technologies, infrastructure, and cabling services.
- Manage 30-35+ projects of various sizes and types.
- Handle budgets up to 1 million dollars.
- Assess and determine voice/data needs using drawings and work request documentation.
- Consult with branch resources to define needs and requirements in accordance with established standards.
- Use markup tool software to depict voice and data needs on drawings to provide vendor with cabling infrastructure needs.
- Order and facilitate the installation of POTS lines for alarm services when applicable.
- Analyze location for new or existing voice/data services and order via vendor portals or process.
- Ability to determine hardware requirements such as a switch, router, UPS, and access points needed for a job.
- Work with vendors to establish requirements needed based upon scope of work and bill of materials.
- Order and coordinate the installation of required hardware needed in the building by the 3rd party vendors.
- Coordinate with networking engineers to define hardware and wireless requirements.
- Provide information needed to 3rd party wireless designers to design wireless layout when applicable.
- Request and provide IP address, bind data and circuit information to activate network services.
- Approve all quotes, request POs, approve invoices for approved scope of work based upon current standards.
- Ensure the completion of standardized tasks and processes to coordinate, implement, install, and test all technical aspects of the enterprise voice and data network and infrastructure, based on defined standards.
- Communicate conduit, data, and fiber requirements to contractors and infrastructure vendor.
- Test and identify any short falls in the initial install and work follow-up issues to completion.
- Ensure infrastructure cabling, wiring closet (MDF/IDF), and hardware installations are accurate and meet standards and are certified to local and national specifications.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation and tracking of work-order activities in defined enterprise tools. To include completion of all tasks (ServiceNow, SharePoint, Project).
- Validate completed work by cabling vendors ensuring that scope is complete.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, project management, support, and security groups, as well as manage third party contractor activities to ensure location connectivity.
- Participate in associate meetings and communicate any concerns to management.
Must-haves:
- 1-3 years of experience is preferred to perform at expectation. Applies broad job knowledge of own job area or basic job knowledge across multiple job areas.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups.
- Efficiently operate computers, tablets and mobile devices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Visio, etc.).
- Knowledge of project/task management systems preferred. (ServiceNow, SharePoint, Project)
- Knowledge of National Standards for TIA/EIA , BICSI , and OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Ability to interpret site surveys and drawings to identify project requirements preferred.
- Experience with coordination of voice, data, and wireless technologies preferred.
- Familiar with basic networking hardware needed for a network.
- Familiar with the backbone of a network to include CAT-6 and Fiber Optics.
- Poise and maturity to interact at all levels of the organization as well as third-party contractors.
