We are seeking an IT Project Manager on a contract basis to support enterprise IT security and compliance initiatives. This role is best suited for a seasoned, detail-oriented project manager who excels in waterfall and hybrid delivery, thrives in regulated environments, and is comfortable driving accountability without direct authority.
This is not a technical or hands-on development role. The ideal candidate is a classic, disciplined project manager with strong follow-through, executive-level communication skills, and a proven track record managing high-visibility, compliance-driven initiatives.
This role is 100% remote.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage enterprise IT security and compliance projects, including multi-phase and multi-year initiatives
- Take ownership of in-flight projects, actively managing scope, schedule, milestones, risks, and action items
- Track deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues; proactively escalate concerns to stakeholders
- Drive accountability across cross-functional and matrixed teams without direct authority
- Ensure successful project completion by managing scope, timelines, and resolving blockers
- Develop and execute communication plans, including agendas, meeting notes, and status reporting
- Ensure adherence to PMO governance, methodologies, compliance, and documentation standards
- Support risk management, budget tracking, and reporting processes
- Collaborate with project managers to support collective tracking and coordination efforts
- Serve as a liaison between business and IT teams, translating objectives, risks, and impacts
- Maintain strong documentation and ensure alignment with enterprise standards
- Support organizational programs, policies, and initiatives while maintaining a high level of professionalism
Skills and Qualifications
- PMP certification required
- 5-7+ years of dedicated project management experience, with project management as the core role
- Proven experience managing large-scale, high-impact enterprise initiatives
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Strong experience working with senior leadership (Director/VP level)
- Strong knowledge of waterfall and hybrid project delivery methodologies
- Familiarity with PMO governance, compliance frameworks, and structured project methodologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams
- Experience using Smartsheet for project tracking and reporting
- Basic knowledge of SharePoint for document management
- Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clearly and concisely
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills across cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate proactively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to translate technical and business requirements for diverse stakeholders
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently and drive execution
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience within IT or compliance-focused environments
- Exposure to enterprise PMO structures and governance
- Strong tenure history demonstrating stability in prior roles
- Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through and risk identification skills
- Ability to manage high-visibility, high-risk initiatives with confidence and discipline
