Job description

Our customer is a large United States insurance company that is backed by more than 100 years of experience and provides insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the United States., Canada and Europe. Headquartered in Chicago, IL, they have more than 20 US locations.


We are seeking a contract IT Security Analyst to support our Customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.


The IT Security Analyst supports the evaluation, development, and implementation of security standards, procedures, and controls across multiple platforms and system environments. This role collaborates with senior staff, assists in incident response, and provides technical guidance to ensure the protection of critical information resources. The position involves operational security tasks, access administration, and participation in security technology initiatives.



Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior staff in evaluating, developing, implementing, and operationalizing security standards, procedures, and guidelines across multiple systems and environments.
  • Support the review, development, testing, and implementation of security plans, security products, and control mechanisms such as password administration, intrusion detection, data encryption, and backup/recovery controls.
  • Coordinate reporting of data security incidents and participate in security investigations as required.
  • Provide technical support to clients, staff, and management during risk assessments and in the implementation of security procedures and tools.
  • Perform access control and account administration for critical information resources, including maintaining data access rules and permissions.
  • Act as a liaison to product groups and support application teams in implementing security technologies and ensuring application security.
  • Identify changes that may impact security policies, standards, and procedures, and escalate as appropriate.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Up to two years of technical experience in IT security, including exposure to multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communication systems, or network protocols, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Strong understanding of security policy development and publication.
  • Knowledge of IT-related regulations, including SOX and privacy requirements, and relevant internal control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with business partners.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple technical projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business-related software systems; familiarity with additional security tools depending on the area supported.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry or experience supporting insurance-related environments preferred.
