Job description

Are you passionate about dogs and great at writing? Are you a Veterinarian or Vet Tech with writing experience? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

Our site educates our audience of dog owners about all things dogs, including breed information, nutrition, and toys and telling rescue stories to promote rescue awareness around the United States.

We need EXPERIENCED pet journalists, dog enthusiasts, trainers, vet techs, and veterinary writers to help us produce quality content on a regular basis.

We are looking for writers that can write the following:

  1. Breed overviews
  2. Breed comparisons
  3. Mixed breed overviews (what to expect with temperament, etc.)
  4. Informational content about dogs
  5. List based content (Ex: 11 Reasons you should own a German Shepherd)
  6. Stories about rescue dogs and other news related stories about dogs

Responsibilities

  1. Creates, proofreads, and self-edits copy ranging from 750 words to 3,000 words in length on average
  2. Reach out to local animal rescues, get approval to use images and tell stories of dogs needing rescued, and/or past rescues we can highlight
  3. Average 500+ words per hour in written content production
  4. Meet deadlines and attend and participate in meetings as required

Qualifications/Skills

  1. 1+ professional writing experience, preferably in the pet industry
  2. You must be passionate about dogs and rescue
  3. Ability to adapt writing to the brand’s voice
  4. Ability to ideate on marketing direction
  5. Strong and flexible writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  6. Ability to interact productively during brainstorming and kick-off meetings
  7. Work independently, and communicate information among team members
  8. Prior remote work experience preferred
  9. Has experience in using Slack and/Google docs/sheets

Added bonuses:

  1. Dog trainer/vet tech/veterinary experience
