This is a unique opportunity to be a high-impact early member of The Mom Project, and to lay the foundations for our Finance Operation. Reporting directly to our Finance Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to work on various components of The Mom Project’s finance function.

About the Role
Your initial focus will be on refining our customer billing and talent timesheet sourcing processes, turning these core functions into a machine
•Working closely with the sales team, contracted talent, and customers on various billing related issues
•Identify process and system improvements to streamline the revenue cycle
•Provide sales and billing reports to upper management as needed
•Help maintain the general ledger in Quickbooks by importing and categorizing expenses to the proper account and department
•Respond to Slack messages and emails regarding accounting-based questions in a timely manner
•Assist with month-end close processes (such as reconciliations and journal entries) and year end items (such as pulling W-9 information for 1099 filings).
•Communicate process improvements by routinely and frequently updating our finance handbook

Strengths & Qualifications:
•You are willing to take on any task: The Mom Project is a fast-growing and nimble team. You'll be part of a small, but mighty finance team that has their hands in multiple aspects of the business. You're eager to take on any project that comes your way no matter how big or how small.
•Accounting and Finance Experience: Through schooling or experience, you can demonstrate a strong understanding of the general ledger, GAAP, and financial reporting. You’re ready to use your experience to help us level up quickly, and in turn, you’ll be able to move on to broader projects.
•Problem Solving Skills: You are apt at drilling into problems and connecting the dots between transactions and their broader business context. You default to action and are skilled at tracking down the right information to get the job done.
•Detail Oriented: You know how to find discrepancies between two spreadsheets and can spot where a process is brittle or prone to error.
•Project Management Skills: You are comfortable managing several projects at once, taking initiative to move projects forward and deliver results on time.
•Required experience: BA in Accounting / Finance; 2+ years’ experience in professional accounting department
•Strongly preferred experience: You are familiar with our operational stack, which includes Quickbooks Online, Bill.com, and Expensify.
