Job Title: Legal Assistant

Job Description:
The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team, focusing primarily on:
- Handling file closures and ensuring all medical providers are reimbursed.
- Notifying and communicating with state and federal lien holders, ensuring lien reimbursement is compliant with state and federal regulations.
- Gathering medical records and communicating with medical providers.
- Organizing medical records and ensuring efficient record keeping.
- Assisting attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings.
- Filing and organizing legal documents in electronic filing systems, including updating and maintaining client files in the Clio system.
- Handling communication with clients and witnesses under attorney supervision.
- Scheduling interviews, meetings, and court dates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate degree in legal studies or a related field is a benefit although someone who is extremely detailed and organized will be able to excel regardless of legal experience.
- Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a legal office.
- Proficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office). Familiarity with Clio not necessary but a bonus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain case files and handle administrative tasks such as billing, record keeping and supporting legal staff.
- Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders.
- Persistant communication with medical providers, lienholders and various health insurers.
Employment Type: Estimated at 30 hours per week. The firm has grown over the last several years so increased hours and opportunities will likely be available.
Location: This is a hybrid position, however, training will likely take place in large part in-office to start. Attending meetings between client and attorney, especially intakes, will be a big help. Can organize in-office time around family or other obligations such as a child's school schedule.
