Our Customer is an endoscope manufacturer, offering systems for human and veterinary medicine as well as for industrial applications. They are headquartered in El Segundo, California.
Our Customer is seeking a Legal Operations Manager on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is hybrid in El Segundo, CA.
This position plays a critical role in supporting the efficiency, execution, and impact of the legal department. This role partners with legal leadership and attorneys to drive day-to-day operational excellence, manage projects and initiatives (including cross-functional activities), and support the delivery of legal services to business partners. This is an ideal role for a strong project manager and problem solver who enjoys building structure, improving processes, building trusted relationships in the business, and providing strategic input.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute legal operations projects and cross-functional initiatives, including process improvements and technology implementations
- Support Legal leadership with project planning, milestone tracking, timelines, and execution of strategic initiatives
- Manage and optimize legal systems and tools such as matter management, contract lifecycle management, and e-billing platforms
- Develop and maintain dashboards, metrics, and reporting to provide visibility into Legal team performance and workload
- Coordinate training for Legal team members and business partners on tools, systems, and processes
- Manage relationships with outside counsel and legal vendors to drive efficiency, consistency, and cost control
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including tracking departmental spend and financial performance
- Assist with communications and change management for Legal initiatives, including rollout of new tools, policies, and processes
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning and roadmap development for the Legal function
- Engage with executive stakeholders, requiring sound judgment and strong communication skills
- Support additional projects and initiatives as needed
- Travel occasionally (5–10%) for meetings and team collaboration
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Legal Operations, Legal Strategy, Management Consulting, or related field (10+ years preferred)
- Proven experience implementing legal operations frameworks at scale in corporate, tech, or global environments
- Strong understanding of legal workflows, including litigation, corporate, compliance, regulatory, and contracts
- Experience managing cross-functional programs, budgets, and technology implementations
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with legal technologies such as e-billing systems, contract lifecycle management, matter management systems, and AI/automation tools
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Strong business judgment and ability to influence across all levels of the organization
- Adaptability and ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on scalability and efficiency
- Ability to build trust and strong working relationships across diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Experience working in high-growth or enterprise environments
