Job description

Our customer is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They help researchers make new discoveries, doctors and nurses improve the lives of patients, and lawyers develop winning strategies. They prevent online fraud and money laundering and help insurance companies evaluate and predict risk. Their events combine in-person and digital experiences to help customers learn about markets, source products and complete transactions. In short, they enable customers to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive.


We are seeking a contract Legal Researcher & Writer to research, write, and summarize content on legal topics for new state and/or national legal encyclopedia products. These individuals would work with multiple Editorial Directors, Legal Editors, Product Managers, and other legal writers to create these products. This role is 100% remote. Our client customer hires for part time and full time openings.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research on legal topics and write summaries in an encyclopedia-style format
  • Draft clear, concise, and accurate explanations, analyses, and summaries of legal concepts and principles
  • Collaborate with Editorial and Product stakeholders during the writing and review process
  • Ensure all content meets legal and editorial standards for accuracy and completeness
  • Adhere to project deadlines and maintain open communication with team members
  • Participate in occasional phone meetings and teleconferences as requested


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required
  • 1+ years of experience in legal research and writing
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading abilities
  • Familiarity with legal research databases and resources
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across various practice areas and topics
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Strong understanding of legal principles, terminology, and research methods
  • Ability to conduct complex legal research across multiple jurisdictions and practice areas
  • Excellent written communication skills with a clear, concise, and persuasive writing style
  • Proficiency in legal citation and formatting styles
  • Skilled in using technology tools for legal research, writing, and project management
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with internal teams
  • Strong project management abilities, including managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks efficiently
