Job description

Our customer is an American financial services and digital payments company based in San Francisco, California. They’re working to help their diverse audiences — sellers, individuals, artists, fans, developers, and all the people in between — overcome barriers to access the economy.

We are seeking a highly motivated Lifecycle Operations Technical Manager on a contract basis to help support our customer's business needs. This role is 100% remote.

Responsibilities:

As a Lifecycle Operations Specialist, you will execute marketing campaigns end-to-end through Square's owned lifecycle channels (email, in-app, push, SMS). You will work independently with minimal oversight, partnering with cross-functional teams to deploy campaigns on time and with quality. You'll be expected to ramp quickly on our platform stack and operate as a fully autonomous contributor from day one.

  • Build and deploy complex multi-message marketing campaigns to global audiences using Iterable and supporting platforms
  • Execute audience syncing via segmentation tools and data warehouse queries
  • Own QA processes — ensuring campaigns meet lifecycle deployment standards before publish
  • Troubleshoot campaign issues independently (template rendering, audience targeting, event triggers, delivery failures)
  • Execute time-sensitive communications (SEV emails, compliance notices) with urgency and accuracy
  • Support international campaign execution across multiple locales, coordinating with localization teams
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (Product, Creative, Localization, Legal, Analytics, Engineering) to manage timelines and deliverables
  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders on campaign status, timelines, and blockers
  • Maintain channel health by enforcing guardrails — frequency caps, suppression rules, subscription compliance
  • Participate in triaging and resolving issues as they arise
  • Support capacity planning by managing intake volume and communicating timelines to stakeholders

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in email marketing, campaign management, marketing operations, or lifecycle operations
  • Hands-on experience with ESPs/marketing automation platforms (Iterable strongly preferred; Braze, SFMC, or similar acceptable)
  • Experience with audience segmentation tools and data pipelines (CDPs, reverse ETL, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of data warehouses (Snowflake, Hightouch, or similar) for audience queries
  • Strong understanding of customer/merchant lifecycles — end-to-end, all stages
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong QA instincts
  • Experience working cross-functionally with creatives, engineers, analysts, PMs, and marketing managers
  • Comfort with HTML (basic edits), Handlebars/template logic, and conditional content
  • Strong project management skills — can juggle multiple campaigns simultaneously

Even Better:

  • Comfortable writing basic SQL queries
  • Experience with Snowflake, Looker, or Hightouch
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation
  • Familiarity with template management systems
  • Experience in a matrixed organization at scale (100M+ profiles)
  • Experience handling urgent/time-sensitive communications in a high-stakes environment

Education:

  • AS/BS degree and a minimum 5 years of experience in email marketing, campaign management, or operations

We offer a competitive salary range for this position. Most candidates who join our team are hired at the median of this range, ensuring fair and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
