Job description

The Golan Firm is a boutique law firm specializing in honest labeling practices. We’re nationally known for our work in falsely advertised food, household products, and personal care products (“hypoallergenic,” “natural,” or “organic”). We are also litigating several cutting-edge cases in cybersecurity, spoofed telemarketing calls, and unfair university tuition policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. We co-counsel with non-profit groups and law firms throughout the U.S.

The litigation assistant works closely with the principal attorney in addressing the firm’s litigation and office demands. While “traditional” legal assistant skills are needed, we are looking for a go-getter who is able to anticipate needs, exercises good judgment, is kind, and excels at problem solving, critical thinking, and time management. As the litigation assistant is the 'backbone' of the office, we are seeking individuals willing to commit to a long-term position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, formatting, processing, and coordinating legal documents;
  • Conduct research;
  • Monitor and update attorney and court calendars, arranging travel;
  • Manage office, including accounting and human resources;
  • Organize quarterly hiring and onboarding of Law Clerks and Research Clerks;
  • Collaborate effectively and efficiently with support staff at co-counseling law firms;
  • Build solid working relationships with clerks, vendors, clients, and co-counsel.

Requirements:

  • Seeking a long term commitment, 2+ years preferred.
  • Positive, friendly attitude and can-do spirit;
  • Anticipate needs of attorney and office;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational skills (demonstrated history of proposing and implementing process improvements is a plus);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong typing, proofreading, and editing skills (experience with Mac computers and Filemaker is a plus).

Documentation Needed: Cover letter, resume, transcript, and writing sample. If you do not have a writing sample available, submit a draft letter to our co-counsel introducing yourself as the newest member of our team. Aim for brevity and professionalism, without being stodgy.

Job Type: Full-time, In-person

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Travel reimbursement
  • Vision insurance
