This opportunity offers fully remote work, flexible hours, and significant autonomy over your schedule. Attorneys are encouraged to determine the number of hours they want to work each week, from 20 to 40 hours, and choose their annual billable-hour requirement between 700 and 1,410 hours.
Compensation for this role is up to $215,872, including base salary, 401(k) matching, and time-entry bonus.

We are seeking an experienced Marketing Law and Data Privacy Law Transactional Attorney. The level—Partner, Counsel, or Senior Associate—will depend on years of experience and quality of work product.
This can be a full-time or part-time, fully remote role with fully flexible hours, provided you are available to meet client needs. You will work with sophisticated enterprise clients on a wide variety of marketing, advertising, privacy, and transactional matters. For the right candidate, this opportunity may also provide a path toward broader firm leadership.
What You'll Do
Marketing & Advertising Law
Advise sophisticated businesses on a wide range of marketing, advertising, promotions, and consumer-facing legal issues, including:
- Review of advertising and marketing campaigns
- Advertising claims, substantiation, disclosures, and disclaimers
- Digital and social media marketing
- Email and SMS marketing
- Influencer and talent relationships
- Sweepstakes, contests, and promotions
- Loyalty and rewards programs
- Consumer promotions
- Sponsorships and branded content
- Production and advertising agreements
- Advertising insertion orders
- Marketing agency agreements
- Influencer agreements
- Talent agreements
- Sponsorship agreements
- Marketing technology
- Website and application content
- Consumer-facing terms and disclosures
- Marketing-related privacy issues
- Consumer protection and advertising compliance
Data Privacy Law
Advise clients on a broad range of data privacy counseling and transactional matters, including:
- U.S. federal and state privacy laws
- CCPA/CPRA
- Emerging state comprehensive privacy laws
- Privacy requirements affecting websites, applications, products, services, and business operations
- Privacy issues involving marketing campaigns and systems
- Data collection, use, sharing, retention, and disclosure
- Data vendor relationships
- Privacy-by-design considerations
- Data processing and international data-transfer requirements and transactions
You will translate complicated and rapidly changing legal requirements into clear, practical advice that business teams can actually use.
Privacy Documentation & Agreements
Draft, review, and negotiate:
- Privacy policies
- Website and application privacy notices
- Terms of use
- Data Processing Agreements (DPAs)
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- Data-security provisions
- Vendor privacy provisions
- Technology and commercial agreements containing privacy obligations
- Company privacy policies and procedures
- Data incident response plans
You should be comfortable identifying and negotiating key risk-allocation provisions, including:
- Indemnification
- Limitation of liability
- Warranties
- Insurance
- Data security
- Confidentiality
- Intellectual property
Privacy Programs & Compliance
Assist clients with:
- Designing and implementing global privacy programs
- Maintaining privacy programs as laws and business practices evolve
- Privacy compliance assessments
- Data privacy audits
- Data mapping and related compliance exercises
- Internal privacy policies and procedures
- Employee privacy training and guidance
- Privacy governance
- Vendor and third-party privacy risk
- Incident preparedness and tabletop exercises
- Regulatory developments and compliance planning
Data Security & Incident Response
Advise clients before, during, and after data-security incidents, including:
- Developing incident response plans
- Preparing tabletop exercises
- Assessing legal obligations following an incident
- Supporting incident investigations
- Advising on notification and response obligations
- Coordinating with business, security, technology, and other legal stakeholders
- Helping clients build stronger incident-preparedness programs
You will help clients understand not simply whether something is legally permissible, but how to accomplish their business objectives while appropriately managing legal and business risk.
You should also be comfortable handling, or willing to learn, a broad range of transactions and soft-IP matters.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience, with at least 30% of your practice focused on marketing law or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience, with at least 30% of your practice focused on data privacy law or equivalent
- At least 5 years of full-time experience as a general transactional attorney
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements
- Experience hiring, onboarding, and training attorneys
- Ability and willingness to learn and handle common day-to-day legal issues for businesses in marketing, technology, retail, consulting, and other industries
- Strong client counseling and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A practical, business-minded approach to legal service
- Strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond for clients and teammates
- Genuine kindness and an ability to build strong relationships
- Willingness to listen, learn, improve, and change course when appropriate
- Comfort making informed decisions without overthinking every issue

Education
- Graduation from a Top 60 U.S. law school OR
- Graduation in the top 20% of your law school class
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPP/US certification
- CIPP/E certification
- Experience working with enterprise in-house legal departments
- Experience serving as a secondment or embedded legal resource
