Job description

Position: Marketing Manager (Architecture/Design Firm)

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and strategic Marketing Manager with experience in the architecture or design industry to implement and oversee our firm’s marketing initiatives. This role will play a key part in enhancing our brand, identifying quality leads, and shepherding them through the sales process while maintaining the firm’s reputation for excellence in design. The ideal candidate will combine an eye for aesthetics, strong communication skills, and an ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

You have worked hard to get where you are – first your degree in architecture or interior architecture or advertising, then the years spent at that firm with all those hours in front of the computer... You still (sort of?) believe in architecture and design, but it's so easy to feel burned out at the pace you're going. Or... you've already opted out because your life changed and you're wondering: is there a way to have a career in architecture and still lead a balanced life? Is there somewhere you could collaborate on creative projects, while learning from a team that is respectful and earnest?

We are real people, doing real work, in a real office in Costa Mesa. We are redefining what it means to work in the field of architecture. We are small but growing and focus exclusively on commercial projects (mostly tenant improvements in retail and hospitality). We are challenging the grind in other firms by offering 20- to 30-hour work weeks, mentorship from senior staff, and true flexibility, including fully remote positions. If you have experience in commercial projects, excellent communication skills, and a true desire to commit to a better way of life, please reach out and tell us about yourself.

We believe in: offices with daylight, collective ownership of our product, bringing the hustle, being kind to each other, and work schedules that support us in living our best lives.

Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy Implementation

  1. Execute marketing strategies and campaigns developed in collaboration with leadership.
  2. Ensure all marketing efforts align with the firm’s brand identity and business development goals.
  3. Develop and maintain content calendars, ensuring the timely production of high-quality materials.

  1. Identify and qualify new business opportunities and potential clients through research and analysis.
  2. Follow up on inbound leads, maintaining a professional and engaging approach to foster new relationships.
  3. Shepherd leads through the sales pipeline, collaborating with team leads to draft tailored proposals and presentations.
  4. Track and document the status of leads, proposals, and follow-up actions using CRM tools.

Proposal Development

  1. Work closely with project leaders to draft and refine high-quality proposals, ensuring they are well-written, visually compelling, and aligned with client requirements.
  2. Coordinate the preparation of RFP/RFQ responses, including gathering project data, visuals, and team resumes.
  3. Review and refine all written materials to ensure they meet high standards for grammar, clarity, and tone.

Branding and Content Oversight

  1. Maintain and enhance the firm’s visual identity across all platforms, including digital and print materials.
  2. Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, ensuring consistent, high-quality visuals and messaging.
  3. Manage external vendors (photographers, graphic designers, etc.) to produce top-tier content.

Client and Relationship Management

  1. Follow up with existing clients to gather feedback, ensure satisfaction, and identify opportunities for future collaboration.
  2. Represent the firm at networking events, conferences, and client meetings.

Digital Marketing and Analytics

  1. Develop and oversee digital marketing efforts, including social media strategy, website updates, and email campaigns.
  2. Monitor the effectiveness of campaigns using analytics tools and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
  3. Coordinate with the team to gather and showcase project stories, awards, and firm news.

Performance Tracking and Reporting

  1. Track the performance of marketing initiatives and prepare regular reports for leadership.
  2. Analyze metrics such as lead conversion rates, proposal success rates, and client feedback to refine strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Architecture, or a related field.
  2. 3–5 years of marketing experience within the architecture, design, or related professional services industry.
  3. Familiarity with architectural terminology, project types, and the industry’s unique marketing needs.
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  5. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  6. Proficiency in CRM systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and marketing analytics tools.
