We are seeking a Marketing Operations Manager on a contract basis who will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of data enablement, working with cross functional teams to deliver attributes for marketing campaigns. This role will use their robust technical and data skills, knowledge of company products and data producers, business and analytical acumen to deliver attribute clarity and availability, improved campaign delivery and reduced dependency on product managers and product developers. . This role is hybrid in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead translation of marketing use cases to technical data requirements
a. Partner with Digital Activation Operations Team to understand marketing channel use cases and translate into technical data requirements to enable data ingestion process (domain source ? marketing systems/platforms)
b. Drive clear understanding, documentation & communication of business requirements - Drive data discovery process to identify data sources with entity stewards
a. Investigate and confirm ownership of marketing attributes by navigating the data registrar and/or proactively set up meetings with various potential source owners to gain ownership alignment
b. Drive data implementation discussions with source teams if data is not readily available to consume
c. Determine accurate & clean data source for each new data request
d. Create SQL data specification / queries based on source / use case requirements to enable shovel ready onboarding - Drive clarity around data derivation needs based on source and use case requirements
a. Coordinate across engineering teams to ensure clear handoff, SLAs and requirements for data requiring transformation / derivation - Manage data onboarding ingestion process across multiple pipelines and engineering teams
a. Lead implementation of self serve data ingestion across multiple pipelines to marketing systems/platforms to enable audience creation for personalization campaigns - Lead Data Validation
a. Verify newly onboarded data against the source data to ensure completion, freshness, and quality - both one time validation once onboarding completes, as well as for ongoing monitoring
b. Monitor data pipelines to ensure accurate and consistent data usage for marketing campaigns and targeting - Improved Operational Excellence
a. Establish operational runbooks and documentation to increase overall rigor, and share best practices with partners to multiply data literacy
b. Provide support on data onboarding tools and processes to enable high caliber of operational efficiencies
c. Communicate progress, learnings, risks to senior management and the broader org
d. Be the subject matter expert and partner with stakeholders to define business strategies that leverage existing capabilities and identify gaps for product roadmap consideration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5-7 years professional experience working with marketing data, onboarding/transformation data, managing movement of marketing data, marketing analytics (technical data analytics experience a plus).
- Must have experience in SQL and working with JSON files and data.
- Additional expertise in marketing technologies such as: Adobe suite (big plus), customer data platforms, CRM automation platforms, data management platforms, advertising media (e.g. Google and Facebook). Experience in Jira is ideal.
- Strong quality control mindset.
- Ability to identify data issues and troubleshoot root causes, and communicate risks to leaders.
- Ability to provide solutions to solve complex data problems.
- Required skills include: highly technical, strong communicator, ability to mentor junior members of team, ability to work well across teams and various levels, highly organized & detail oriented (operational rigor!) with the ability to see the big picture, team player, always curious, comfortable in the unknown
