Our customer is seeking a Marketing Strategy, Planning, and Operations Manager on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is 100% remote.

This role is responsible for supporting the annual planning process, ongoing strategic priority management, cross-functional operations and process management and optimization and strategic financial liaison to business priorities. This role drives efficiency and accountability towards the top-down highest order business goals within the marketing organization. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a seasoned operations expert, is skilled at leading complex cross-functional initiatives with executive-level leadership and is a sharp strategic and operations thinker. This person should see the value in creating inclusive spaces when solving hard problems and recognize diverse perspectives. This is a highly cross-functional role that partners closely with marketing leaders to ensure that smart strategies are set, initiatives are rigorously prioritized, concrete plans are developed, and that our teams are organized to succeed. This role is integral in driving operational excellence in our marketing organization. The ideal candidate has experience in business strategy, strategic and operational planning, exec-level communication and stakeholder management. This person is a data-driven self-starter and problem solver. This role will report to the Lead of Planning and Operations for Marketing

Responsibilities:

  • Develop marketing strategy, including annual and ad hoc planning processes
  • Build investment cases to land annual plan and incremental asks, including driving trade-off discussions
  • Help remove roadblocks, escalate misalignments and ensure teams are set up for successful execution
  • Define and track org-level goals
  • Lead org-level strategic projects, as needed and as bandwidth permits
  • Identify and structure emerging misalignments and develop solutions (both within team and across orgs)
  • Communicate up, down, and across org to ensure transparency, alignment, and advocacy
  • Identify opportunities to build and improve on strategic marketing, planning, and operations processes to support the Marketing organization, working with relevant XFN partners within and beyond the immediate team
  • Distill business insights from how we’re managing resources and headcount across portfolio
  • Work with cross-functional partners including finance, HR, Media, Insights, and Brand to enable informed business decisions such as program and market prioritization and resource allocation
  • Design, operationalize, and manage processes that enable the marketing team to move fast and do awesome things
  • Partner with Finance and marketing campaign leaders to ensure accurate and consistent financial tracking across programs
  • Lead organizational operations such as talent planning, resourcing, and headcount management, restructures, employee experience, and leadership meetings
  • Collaborate with partner organizations and cross-functional teams on cross-organizational projects and alignment opportunities, including best practice sharing, goaling, and measurement
  • May lead other org engagement activities, such as internal communications, as bandwidth permits

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years professional experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial marketing environment, embracing flex between strategic thinking and hands-on execution
  • Experience with consumer brands, with hardware, retail, and/or emerging technology.
  • Process oriented with strong project management experience.
  • Success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives under tight deadlines and communicating about those initiatives clearly and simply
  • Comfort navigating varying cross-functional challenges and priorities to drive unified alignment and clear decisions.
  • Simplification: of processes, problems, and strategies.
  • Business strategy presentation development: Strong experience in executive level deck authoring, executive communication and Excel development.
  • Business and/or Marketing finance knowledge: comfort supporting finance in driving strategic financial decisions towards business goals/priorities.

Preferred Skills
  • Executive experience: comfort working with and navigating various executive leadership styles.
  • Experience handling complex financial data inputs
  • Advanced Excel experience
  • Prior experience in consumer marketing
  • Prior experience in either management consulting or in-house strategy and operations
  • MBA
