Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.


We are seeking a Materials Planner on a contract basis to support our Customer's business needs. This role is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.



Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Engineering Change Order (ECO) releases to minimize cutover impact and reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) risk across multiple business units.
  • Support material planning activities to meet ECO timelines and inventory goals.
  • Manage MCF activities in the MSRB forum and transition into SOE.
  • Audit Material Master settings to ensure alignment with business unit demand and operational parameters.
  • Ensure MRP stability through weekly MRP churn analysis and cleanup activities.
  • Allocate shared component materials across factories based on changing demand and supply priorities.
  • Ensure component-level material availability aligns with production schedules through scenario and what-if simulations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams on material storage, Kanban bin sizing, material presentation, and material protection.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally on APM management across multiple use cases.
  • Serve as the planning representative and single point of contact for assigned business units in IPR and CCB meetings.
  • Partner with PMO, R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering on new material introductions and part revision planning.
  • Manage SAP PPDS and MDG configuration through ERP change management processes.
  • Support SIOP and material scenario planning to proactively identify supply constraints.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for inventory health issues and exception conditions.
  • Audit and govern yield and scrap settings for finished goods and raw materials.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a progressive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with MRP planning and execution.
  • Strong experience using SAP.
  • Experience with SAP PPDS.
  • Experience with SAP MDG.
  • Strong forecasting and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong material planning and inventory management experience.
  • Strong understanding of Material Master configuration and MRP signal behavior.
  • Understanding of Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes.
  • Understanding of change control processes.
  • Experience with supply and demand planning.
  • Experience with scenario planning and what-if simulations.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS certification.
  • Six Sigma certification.
