Our Customer is an American computer and consumer electronics company famous for creating phones and computers. As one of the largest companies globally with a market cap of over 2 trillion dollars, it is a major leader in the space. Although this company was founded in 1976 it has transformed how we connect and communicate worldwide.

Our Customer is seeking a Media Monitoring and Intelligence Analyst on a contract basis analyst to support the US corporate communications operation in a fast-moving news environment. This is a unique opportunity for someone to help track and assess news from around the world of interest, and to evaluate media coverage across the business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong writing background, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to distill complex topics into clear, crisp sentences.

This role is hybrid (3 days onsite and 2 days remote/week) in Cupertino, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Tracking international, financial and corporate news from around the world that is of interest and the broader industry.
  • Alerting the PR team and others about breaking news from TV, print, online and social media.
  • Writing concise and objective summaries of key stories, and compiling longer reports as needed.
  • Coordinating news monitoring with a network of PR managers in the US and other parts of the world.
  • Compiling editorial calendars and other tools to track and discover PR opportunities and potential media issues.
  • Assisting the communications team with other activities as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Higher education preferred. Journalism experience or qualification desirable.
  • 2+ years’ experience in and passion for international news and current affairs, including business, technology and politics. This might include roles as a journalist, PR specialist or researcher.
  • Excellent news judgment and an ability to identify issues that could affect the business.
  • Very high standard of written communications, with an aptitude for working quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Driven and highly motivated individual. The role will involve taking responsibility for delivering high-quality reports, often on tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding of all forms of news and communication channels, including the latest social and online platforms.
  • A second language is strongly preferred.
