Job description
Our Customer is a leading global collaboration platform that's transforming the way people work together, from the smallest business to the largest enterprise. With more than 500 million registered users across more than 180 countries, their mission is to unleash the world’s creative energy by designing a more enlightened way of working. Headquartered in San Francisco, CA, they have more than 12 offices around the world.
Our Customer is seeking a Motion Designer on a contract basis to help support their business needs. This role is 100% remote.
This role will be focused on creating branded product experiences using Lottie and Rive. This role will also include UX motion work, particularly system-driven animations in collaboration with the design systems team. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be responsible for writing clear motion documentation and partnering closely with engineering to support implementation. You’ll collaborate directly with brand experience designers, product teams, and engineering partners to deliver branded in-product motion as well as UI motion to the highest impact areas of the product. You’ll need to have end-to-end experience in motion from concept to technical execution with the engineers and system partners for scalability.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in motion design or animation with a strong focus on in-product motion, not marketing or campaign work
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate directly with product designers, engineers, and product managers to bring UI components and interactions to life
- Proven technical motion skills, including the ability to translate motion concepts into code or engineering-ready assets
- Tools: After Effects (required), Lottie/Rive (preferred)
- Strong executor mindset, someone who can jump in immediately, work independently, and deliver high-quality animations quickly and efficiently
- Solid portfolio of product-integrated motion work (e.g., animating icons, interactive components, UI transitions) - not launch videos or promotional ads
- Comfortable working in tech-forward environments, ideally with experience at small to midsize product or SaaS companies (e.g., Slack, Figma, Intercom, Airbnb, Ramp, Uber)
- Familiar with or experienced in design systems, particularly in the context of scalable and reusable motion tokens or guidelines
- Strong ability to interpret static design and bring it to life through motion, working within product constraints across web, desktop, and mobile surfaces
- Excellent communication skills, especially when working with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless design-to-development handoff
