Position Summary:
The National Sales Manager is responsible for leading our clients' U.S. wholesale sales team while driving continued growth across existing retail partners and identifying strategic opportunities within the domestic market. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on coaching, accountability, customer relationship management, and execution of the company's commercial strategy.
The National Sales Manager partners closely with account managers, supports key customer relationships, and ensures alignment across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service.
The National Sales Manager reports to the CEO and collaborates closely with the VP of International Development to ensure alignment between U.S. and global commercial initiatives.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop the U.S. Sales team through regular one-on-one meetings, performance feedback, goal setting, and professional development.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture that promotes accountability, teamwork, and customer-centric decision-making.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the U.S. wholesale sales organization, ensuring alignment with company goals and revenue objectives.
- Support and strengthen relationships with key retail partners by participating in strategic meetings, business reviews, line reviews, and customer planning sessions.
- Partner with Account Managers to identify opportunities for account growth, improve customer satisfaction, and maximize long-term business partnerships.
- Drive execution of sales initiatives, product launches, promotional programs, and seasonal selling strategies across key accounts.
- Monitor sales performance, customer trends, and market conditions to identify opportunities and proactively address risks.
- Review sales forecasts, pipeline activity, inventory levels, and sell-through performance to improve planning and business execution.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure successful execution of commercial initiatives.
- Identify new business opportunities within the U.S. market and support expansion into new retail channels and strategic partnerships.
- Resolve complex customer issues and escalations while maintaining strong customer relationships and protecting the client's brand.
- Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, business reviews, and performance updates to executive leadership.
- Ensure accurate customer information, forecasting, and sales activity are maintained within company systems and reporting tools.
- Develop and implement sales processes, best practices, and performance standards that improve team effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive activity, and consumer insights to recommend strategies that support continued business growth.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite/Google Workspace or related software.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, account management, or business development within a consumer products, retail, or wholesale environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring a sales team.
- Proven experience managing national retail accounts and developing long-term customer relationships.
- Demonstrated success achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Strong knowledge of wholesale sales processes, account planning, forecasting, and sales reporting.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Sheets and Slides, and experience using CRM and ERP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with national retailers such as Target, Costco, Walmart, Nordstrom, Buy Buy Baby, or similar large retail partners.
- Experience in juvenile products, consumer goods, durable goods, or premium retail brands.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service.
- Familiarity with Shopify, Business Central, or comparable retail and business management platforms.
- Experience leading annual business planning, line reviews, promotional planning, and retailer negotiations.
